This isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of what I believe in. What I have lived through. And how I see the world around me.
The road I took to get to this point has been winding and complex but every step has been a valuable lesson that has got me to the point where I am in a position to use my experience to help others. I hope to help people so they don’t have to struggle the way I have.
I’d love to share that with you.
Hi, I’m Rebecca Hansell.
Personal Life
I currently live on the South Coast of the UK with my long-term partner of over a decade. We embrace seaside living and love to spend sunny days staring at the ocean with a cold drink, talking about life.
We enjoy travelling, cooking, and hiking in our spare time. We have travelled SE Asia, completed the Inca Trail in Peru, and the Portuguese Coastal Camino de Santiago - we are currently planning our next adventure!
My Story
Working Life
I have had many jobs in my adult life but, most recently, I have made my career in conservation communications within the charity sector. At first, I loved my work, but I learned quickly that often there is a lot of talk and not a lot of action - which was infuriating. And so, I started to fall out of love with it all.
However, I still love animals and the natural world and want to help to conserve it and ensure that we all appreciate it for the miracle it is that this is where we call home - so I am hoping to do some volunteering in the future.
Art
I have studied with St Leonards Art School (in-person) and Milan Art Institute (online). I continue to learn and study to improve my skillset and hone my style.
Currently, I am enjoying learning oil painting and improving my sketching. My subjects are often related to the natural world and our place within it, with strong ties to both conservation and the impact of nature on our wellbeing.
I have experience doing workshops in both a creative and scientific capacity. I enjoy helping spread knowledge, as I find learning to be one of life’s greatest joys.
My Credentials
Mental Health
I have recently achieved my Level 2 Qualification in Counselling Skills. I hope to continue with my studies, with a focus on creative and nature-based interventions.
I also have extensive lived experience that greatly influences my work and how I approach my workshops. I have struggled with anxiety and depression my whole adult life and, in 2024, I was late diagnosed with Autism at the age of 33. My personal experience is ongoing and a huge part of what I do.
I don’t know what the future holds but I am working hard to build a sustainable and fulfilling life moving forward.
Simple ideas
Creativity is a way to manage stress, mental wellbeing, and even aid with physical symptoms. Therapy is not accessible to everyone but there are ways we can still manage our health in our daily lives through embracing creativity.
Creativity is a great addition, or complementary to, traditional interventions.
The same can be said for nature, so by utilising this knowledge, we can be active in pursuing joy and better managing our health.
What began as survival during a hard period in my life has bloomed into something I never anticipated. I am excited by the path that my creativity is leading me down and I can’t wait to share that with others.
My Plan
Lasting impact
Art workshops, classes, getting out into nature or into the community, creating beautiful pieces that help connect us to the world outside, can all help us both in the short-term and long-term.
Plus, by spotlighting different species within my work, alongside the relationship that humans have with nature, maybe we can also save the planet a little bit along the way.
Save the planet, save ourselves - doesn’t sound too shabby to me.
